View Page Thumbnails
Under View - select the Navigation Pane checkbox to view all your pages on the left sidebar.
Turn on Show/Hide Button
On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click Show/Hide.
Very helpful feature to see all formatting marks, including page breaks. Use it to delete any extra spaces, line breaks or paragraph returns you don’t need.
Use Table Gridlines
**Please note, this applies to Recipe Cookbooks only**
All recipe pages are built inside a table to keep all content organized. The gridlines will help you see where each cell is located and how much space you have for text or images. To view the gridlines of a Table go to Table - View Gridlines. You can adjust the table gridlines, if needed.
(Note: table gridlines will not be printed with your document.)
Paste Option Button
To customize the template, you can simply type over any existing text. You can also copy a recipe from another document (or online), then select the text in the template and paste your text over it.
To keep the original formatting when pasting text, please use one of these methods:
Paste Option Button
After you paste your text, click the drop-down arrow on the Paste Options button and select Keep Text Only.
or
Paste and Match Formatting
When pasting your new text, use Edit > Paste and Match Formatting
or
Styles
You can also use paragraph styles after you paste your text to fix any formatting issues. Click the Styles Pane button to open Styles. Under List select Styles in Use and choose a defined style from the list.
To apply a style:
Select the text you want to format, or place your cursor at the beginning of the line.
Click the Styles Pane on the Home tab.
Under List select Styles in Use and choose a pre-defined style from the list. The text will appear in the selected style.
Click the picture you want to replace to select it.
Right-click on your mouse and select Change Picture.
Locate your new photo.
To correct the proportions of your new image (if needed):
Under Picture Format tab, click the drop down menu on the Crop button and select Fill.
Cropping handles will appear around the image. Click, hold, and drag a handle to crop the image as desired.

Double-click on the picture you want to replace.
Under Shape Format tab click on the Shape Fill drop down button and select Picture.
Locate your new photo.

Duplicating pages:
Click the Show/Hide button to view all marks.
Place your cursor at the beginning of the page you want to copy. Double-click to select it or click and drag the cursor to the bottom right of the page to select it. Your entire page should be highlighted/selected.
Press Ctrl+C or Cmd+C on your keyboard to copy it.
Insert a new blank page, Insert - Blank Page.
Click in your new page and paste your template, press Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.

Duplicating pages:
Click the Show/Hide button to view all marks.
Click in the top left corner of the template you’d like to duplicate, then double-click on the flashing cursor (or double-click on the Table’s top left corner). Your entire page should be highlighted/selected.
Press Ctrl+C or Cmd+C on your keyboard to copy it.
Click on the bottom of a recipe page (after the Page Break mark) where you’d like your new duplicated page to follow.
Insert a new blank page, Insert - Blank Page.
Click before the Page Break mark on your new page and paste your template, press Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.
To auto-update Table of Contents TOC
Click inside the TOC text box to select it.
Under References tab click Update Table.
Select Update Entire Table. This will reflect any updates to the heading text, as well as any page changes.
Tip: Once printed, use plastic binder sleeves to protect your pages from water damage.
When printing your document, please make sure to select Actual Size under Page Sizing. Select document size as 8.5x11 or A4 depending which template you are using. You can choose to print your pages double-sided or single-sided.
Printing Half Letter (5.5x8.5)
To print 2 pages on one sheet of US Letter size: Under Page Sizing, click on Multiple and select Custom 2 by 1 for Pages per sheet. Orientation - Landscape. If you’d like to print only some pages (not the whole document) select the page range under Pages.
